Our History:
In 1925, the Auxiliary Jewish Home for Aged began as the organizational arm of the volunteer corps. Today there are close to 1000 members who help fund ongoing social, recreational and religious programming, as well as purchase special needs items for the Home. Additionally, several hundred dedicated volunteers provide an invaluable service in a variety of educational, therapeutic, social, cultural and religious needs.
Funding sources for these programs are provided through membership dues, tributes and Auxiliary operated gift shops and nosh nooks.
Through the years, the needs of the Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza have increased, and the Auxiliary has always worked closely with the Home and adapted their volunteerism and programming accordingly. The Auxiliary is, also, committed to their mission of providing support services and programs for Preferred Providers, the Marvin & Betty Danto Health Care Center and Menorah House and for frail older adults that they serve throughout the community.
Our Mission:
- The purpose of this organization shall be to render service primarily to the residents of Jewish Home & Aging Services, as well as older residents in other facilities with which we have forged an alliance
- To contribute to these facilities funds as needed in accordance with the direction of the Board of the Auxiliary
- To increase public awareness and understanding of the organization known as the Auxiliary for Jewish Home and Aging Services
- To promote for our membership cultural, social and fundraising activities appropriate for the goals of our organization
